Cloud Research Engineer/Trainee in Whitestack

Somos una startup latinoamericana (Miami, Santiago, Bogotá y Lima, próximamente en Buenos Aires, Montevideo, Ciudad de México), formada por ex ejecutivos de Google y Cisco, dedicada a traer a las mejores soluciones de Cloud Computing, y adaptarlas al mercado latinoamericano (un mercado GIGANTE, de unos 20.000 millones de dólares, al año).

La piedra angular de nuestra tecnología es la plataforma Openstack (desarrollada por la NASA, y que se usa en datacenters de todo el mundo).

Nuestro equipo tiene a ejecutivos altamente reconocidos en la industria, participando en negocios importante, y coders nativos (sabemos desde Assembler, hasta REACT) con mucha experiencia.

For this position, we are looking for engineering trainees (final or penultimate year of university studies) , willing to immerse themselves in new technologies, embrace new frameworks and join a thriving company. We understand the importance of a first "job" and want to help students take their first steps into the enticing world of modern Cloud and Software Development technologies.

• Software, Networking or Telecommunications Engineering students (or similar) in their last or penultimate study year.
• Experience with Linux OS (basic system administration).
• Experience with scripting (Bash, Python).
• Notions of Software Engineering Methodologies (mostly Scrum and Git usage)
• Notions of Networking (TCP/IP).
• Decent grasp of English (our definition: you google in English).
• Living in overlapping time zones with the Americas (for communication purposes. Europe is fine).
• Soft-skills:

• Team player

Desirable

• Back-end programming knowledge (Python, Java, Go, Rust, ...)
• Knowledge of Cloud DevOps methodologies, using Docker/Kubernetes

What we expect

• You quickly learn about our products, which in general are Cloud IAAS and PAAS applications, understand how they are created and installed. This will quickly bring you up to speed in technologies such as Docker and Kubernetes.
• Under the mentorship of a Senior Engineer, you improve one of our existing products, or do research into a new cutting-edge technology (5G, OSM, SDN, etc.) or into software frameworks our products could benefit from; or maybe you could even suggest adopting one of them into a new whiteproduct...
• We closely work together with a few open-source communities and we expect you to actively partake in the discussions, when applicable.
• You respect the company's guidelines, submit your code through Git with clear commit messages and document your changes thoroughly.
• You work remotely in a disciplined way, respecting internal deadlines and attentive to slack messages or emails. You attend short daily meetings and the occasional larger group meeting where you are expected to give your input or feedback.
