Wheel the World is a travel tech startup making the world accessible for people with disabilities and their families.
By building a cutting-edge model of accessibility data, which extracts, organizes, and displays at www.gowheeltheworld.com, we allow people with disabilities to find and book places to stay, things to do, and multi-day trips with all the accessibility information they need and a specialized user experience.
The platform combines gowheeltheworld.com with the Accessibility Mapping System (AMS), our software built to collect accessibility data.

The Job

Your mission
We are looking for a person that is a skilled full-stack developer, with at least 3 years of coding experience. Someone who is fun and inspiring to work with and is passionate about our mission. There are a lot of opportunities to further develop your own skills through future enhancements.
Your mission will be undertaking our products, gowheeltheworld.com and Accessibility Mapping System, developing new features working closely with the Head of Engineering and a growing team as well as implementing best practices in software architecture and data modeling.
Responsibilities
  • Deliver quality code for each product you work on
  • Setup unit testing where applicable and quality assurance over your deliverables
  • Work closely with the product team to fulfill business goals
  • Take full advantage and best practices from external contributors
  • Help other devs with less experience develop their skills as engineers

Qualifications and requirements

Candidate Profile
You will be expected to propose ideas, as well as to be open to other’s perspectives, and whichever the situation, to deploy new products and features rapidly.
All Wheel the World all team members are expected to speak English fluently.
Personality and Motivation

● You are autonomous and need minimum guidance, and yet you are able to follow instructions and open-minded when being mentored
Required Technical skills
  • At least 3+ years developing software.
  • Experience with React / Redux / Typescript and NodeJS so you can start developing right away.
  • Basic SQL and MySQL (we use TypeORM).
  • Git (with github/bitbucket/gitlab).

Desirable skills

  • Experience with Agile Methodologies.
  • Familiarity with serverless solutions.
  • Familiarity with Google Cloud Platform products is considered an asset (App Engine, Firebase, Cloud Functions, etc.).
