Crack the Code is a female-founded coding startup revolutionizing K-12 education in Latin America by providing much needed computer science training in a fun, simple and accessible format for Spanish-speaking children 5 to 18 empowering them to become future leaders.
Crack the Code offers live online computer science and coding classes for small groups of students and individuals. The structured learning programs are composed of several courses according to the age and interests of the students and take place in a fun and rewarding environment leveraging gameplay elements. Crack the Code teaches small groups students, up to no more than 6 children at a time, from all over the region, and offers monthly, bi-monthly or yearly learning curriculums.. The brand also has social-focused, K-12 educational curriculums and works with public/private schools and universities to provide easy-to-implement programming.

Job Description

As our new Back-end developer you will be a key team member and will be working together with the Frontend, Design and Product teams to ensure the creation, planning, optimization of our learning platform. Making sure to follow the best security guidelines, and to give our students the best possible experience.

Your skills and experience

  • A minimum of 3 years of experience working in software development, plus if at a startup.
  • A minimum of 2 years working with Python, specifically with frameworks such as Django or Flask.
  • Experience in the development of platforms with object oriented architectures.
  • Experience in code versioning with Git.
  • Experience with databases (PostgreSQL), monitoring tools (Sentry, Datadog), cache (Redis),
  • Knowledge around the development of APIs REST or GraphQL.
  • Experience using Docker.
  • Familiarity with HTTP protocols.
  • Knowledge around PEP8 standards, as well as linters, such as Flake8 or Pylint.
  • Experience working with unit testing using Unittest (standard library) or Pytest. message queuing services (RabbitMQ or SQS), as well as the services that support these services (AWS Lambda or Celery).
  • Knowledge around security standards like OWASP.

Good to have (but not required!)

  • Cloud ecosystem and tools, such as AWS and Google Cloud
  • Experience with FastAPI
  • Experience using search engines such as Elasticsearch.
  • Query optimization knowledge.
  • Experience in non-relational databases such as DynamoDB.
  • Familiarity with SQLAchemy, Kubernetes, Terraform, Gitlab CD/CI.
  • Serverless framework or chalice.
